InXiles has just announced that Dead Rising 3, the third installment in the critically acclaimed series, is now completely playable without a single DLC, DLC pass, or additional download required.
The company says that the DLC and additional content required to unlock the game are “currently unavailable for download”.
Players will need to either buy a copy of the game on Xbox Live or purchase it via digital download.
The developer also added that “while the DLC will not be available for purchase on the Xbox Store, players can download it for free from the Xbox App Store and download it through Xbox Live”.
It’s a great move for a company that has had trouble getting the most out of its games, especially when it comes to piracy restrictions.
The latest issue with the Xbox 360 and PS3 has seen players lose access to the game for weeks and many were left feeling betrayed.
While in the past InXils games were a popular way to enjoy Dead Rising and other games that use the console’s built-in game controller, it appears that the publisher is finally taking a more proactive approach to its games.
The game publisher said that it will continue to “continue to evaluate and address any future issues with DLC” and that the developer “will continue to take action to resolve the issues in the future”.
That said, the publisher added that it has “not seen any reports of significant loss of player or Xbox Live account data” during this time.
