The Seattle-based online retailer will open its first U.S. entertainment center on Nov. 16.
Amazon said Tuesday it plans to create a new $5 billion entertainment center that will be called the Amazon Entertainment Centre.
The center will be built on the site of the former Amazon Studios, a former Seattle entertainment venue that was converted to a film studio in 2014.
The company said it will hire 500 people and add 1,000 additional employees.
The new center will include a theater, movie theater, concert venue and more than 300 hotel rooms, restaurants, and bars.
The move comes as Amazon Studios is expanding its video-on-demand offerings, including its streaming service, Prime Video.
The Seattle-area company’s Amazon Studios will offer more than 10,000 original movies and television series in 4K, 60 frames per second and Dolby Atmos.
The company said Tuesday that its theatrical distribution is growing rapidly and that it plans a significant expansion in 2019.
